With respect to the same consistent application of the rules for divisional equipment, the use of a lamp mounted on a firearm was also approved. This should also result in fewer competitors being transferred to a department where their firearm, usually their defensive weapon, is not competitive. The use of a functional mounted light on a firearm that respects the division`s weight and size limit allows these members to compete in a division where their firearm is most competitive. The USPSA competition rules have been adapted to reflect changes in equipment position requirements for production, single-battery and transport optics, as well as the addition of a flashlight mounted on a firearm. The preliminary rules are published here. The most important thing to note is this: lately, the tide has started to turn, and it is the USPSA that has to keep pace with the industry. We recognized the development of light carrying guns equipped with electronic slide-mounted optics. To accommodate this growing trend, the USPSA approved the preliminary spin-off of Carry Optics. For the remainder of 2015, Carry Optics will be recognized at USPSA Level 1 sanctioned events. At the next in-person meeting of the USPSA Board of Directors, January 23-24, 2016, the Board of Directors will assess member participation, industry response, and growth trends to determine whether Carry Optics can remain a viable division within the USPSA.
New changes to the USPSA rules were recently announced by USPSA headquarters, which in some cases significantly changes the way competitors organize themselves when it comes to divisions. The press release on the USPSA website announced that carrying case positions will now be allowed daily in the Production and Carry Optics divisions, along with other clarifications and changes described below. At the USPSA Board of Directors meeting in February 2021, certain rules in the Firearms Equipment Schedules were updated to standardize the placement of pistols and magazine bags across all USPSA divisions. The goal is to make the process more understandable to members and less subjective in games, resulting in fewer participants moving to a less competitive division for their firearm when registering, and even less to the open division due to their position as a case or magazine bag. This less restrictive change allows members to use their “Daily Trary” case position for production and transport optical departments without being moved to Limited or Open, where the case position is less restrictive. I looked at the rules. Does this mean that a tactical fnx-45 can now be in transport optics? Please note that all other rules, including the type of case, the height of the firearm and the distance from the belt, have not changed. Some of the rule changes, such as the decision to increase the weight limit for single-battery guns, are great because they give competitors more space to choose a gun they can afford or want to use – more variety is always better.
I think some competitors won`t be as happy with the changes that allow for different case positions in carrying and production appearance. However, I can see how the USPSA would like to allow some shooters to participate in these divisions and maintain their case and magazine bag positions, as this eliminates a single competitor who appears in a game and competes against himself in that division. The United States Practical Shooting Association has announced the creation of a new makeshift department to allow the growing number of users of slide optics to play: the rules of division will remain very restrictive to avoid the potential “arms race” and maintain the requirements strictly in line with the offers of the industry. A complete appendix to the Carry Optics division`s specifications will be available from www.uspsa.org in the coming days. Competitors do not need a factory optical model to play, but the gun must otherwise be visually identical to a factory model. There`s also a 35-ounce weight limit, which has made some steel frame gun enthusiasts less happy with the rules. The changes to the Carry Optics division will make them truly unique compared to other divisions and will include: Phil Strader – President of the US Practical Shooting Association Home » Weapons » USPSA: Carry Optics Provisional Division Improved grip frame perforation, contour, and texturing to include undercut protection and handle reduction Required use of slide-mounted optics that prohibits Weapons without optics • Reloader • SCSA competitor • Certified Pilot • Currently able to stand out as the second-degree cousin who was kidnapped twice by Joe Flanigan. • Instagram: www.instagram.com/ballisticaviation/ “Slide milling – only if necessary to insert optical visors A slide can be modified specifically for the installation of optical visors and for no other purpose.” What would have changed? Hasn`t he already reached the weight limit? The changes mainly concern the possibility of doing more things on the aftermarket, such as stapling and milling the film.
